Event Information
The Relay for Life is to celebrate cancer survivors, honor those fighting cancer, remember those lost, and fight back by fundraising for the American Cancer Society. This event is a great thing people can do to fight back against cancer.
Contestants will take turns walking around the track for 24 hours, while family members can enjoy food, games and activities and take part in fundraising. There is going to be live entertainment and food vendors throughout the day to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. The entire community is invited to participate, creating one of the largest gatherings in the Pigeon Forge events area. Even if you are not able to participate, be sure to come down to cheer on the runners as they fight against a horrible disease.
Also during the event there will be both a silent and a live auction, which will feature all different kinds of wonderful prizes. What better way to spend your day than by celebrating a great cause while also being given the opportunity to win something.
Relay for Life asks those who have suffered from cancer, as well as their friends and family, to share stories while raising money to help bring an end to this disease. Awards will be given to teams who raise the most money, and participants not actively participating in the relay will be encouraged to use their time fundraising. Whether you want to participate in the relay or not, there are plenty of opportunities to help out the cause to try to fight against cancer.
The event will begin with the opening ceremonies, moving into the survivor lap, where cancer survivors will kick off the relay. Next, caregivers will be recognized with a lap around the track, before all participants will follow with a lap. The Luminaria ceremony follows, honoring all those who have lost their battles to cancer. Finally, the Fight Back lap will bring awareness to the importance of cancer research, treatment, and prevention, as well as the importance of cancer education. Finally, individuals will continue to walk around the track for the rest of the night, into the morning and finishing up in the early afternoon.
